The Gaumont Plaza is the Cheapest Cinema in the UK
It’s official – The Gaumont Plaza is the Cheapest Cinema in the UK.
The Gaumont Plaza first began showing the latest movies in 1936 and continues to screen Hollywood blockbusters to this day, despite switching off its projector in 1975. The cinema was reopened in 2016 and now it’s been crowned as the Cheapest Cinema in the UK with a standard adult ticket costing just £3 – that’s a whopping £6.33 cheaper than the national UK average.
“If you go a multiplex, you can be looking at £60 for a family day there,” says The Gaumont Plaza owner and film buff Alejandro Whyatt. “My dad remembers the silent film days and how cinemas were affordable for the everybody. We offer something different from a multiplex, the building has a great character and prices to see a film are cheaper.”
